Multisite Church Update

The Church Council met this week and voted unanimously to join the new multisite church with our friends at Addingham and Ben Rhydding from 1st Sept. We now need to appoint a number of volunteers to represent Burley on the multisite church council and circuit meeting. We are hoping that all current churches in the Circuit will appoint one Church Steward, who will be a member of both the Circuit Meeting and the multisite Church Council. Each current church is also asked to appoint a second representative to the Circuit Meeting.

The Circuit Meeting currently meets 4 times per year and is the trustee body for the Circuit. It oversees all aspects of the mission of the circuit and its churches including the deployment of resources across the circuit.

We also need to appoint 2 representatives elected by the congregation at Burley to serve on the multisite church council alongside the Church Steward. The multisite church council will usually meet 3 or 4 times per year and will oversee all aspects of the life of the multisite church.

We are also looking for volunteers to become either officers or representatives to serve in the areas of:

• Finance

• Property

• Safeguarding

• Pastoral Care

• Secretary of the multisite church council

In early September we will be looking to form a local congregational leadership team to oversee the worship, pastoral care, discipleship, mission and service aspects of our congregation. Role descriptions are available for some of these roles and others are in the process of being developed.

We shall hold a short General Church Meeting at 10.30am on Sun 20th July in between our Shift and 10.45 services in the hope that as many people will attend as possible. The meeting will be to elect our Church Steward and representatives to Circuit Meeting and Church Council. It would be great to receive nominations in advance of the meeting.

Please do consider if any of these roles are ways in which you could help develop a new structure and way of being for our church which will enable us to focus more of our time, energy and resources on mission and evangelism and develop better relationships with the other congregations in the multisite church.
