Festival Book Sale

You may remember that last year Wendy and Phil Kershaw ran a very successful book sale during Burley festival. They're planning to do the same again this year, hurray!

 

So they have asked that people start saving and collecting books in advance of the sale .

Homemade Preserves

We need your Jam!

We're planning a sale of homemade jams and pickles as our next fund raising event, to be sold possibly at a Tuesday coffee morning. If you have any homemade jams, pickles, marmalade or chutney that you could donate, please bring them along to church and leave them in the welcome area.

All the donations raised through the Easter Offering go to the World Mission Fund of the Methodist church in Great Britain for work in our partner churches around the world. IN 2023, collections from Easter Offering services raised over £190,000 thanks to the generosity of Methodists.

​

The annual Easter Offering service will be led by Mrs Joan Bosomworth at Guiseley Methodist Church on Tuesday 23rd April at 2:15pm

Coffee and Cake

Join us for an afternoon of music, coffee, and cakes, all for a good cause! Our choir will be performing a selection of songs while you enjoy a warm cup of coffee and delicious treats. Entry is free, but we kindly ask for donations in aid of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. Let's come together and make a difference in our community.

Spring has sprung, the grass is riz and the church gardening group will start to meet again on April 4th, from 10am to 11am. New graderners always welcome, to help to keep our lovely garden in order.

Potatoes and Roots

Potato Challenge

Yes, the potato challenge is back! Collect your seed potatoes and buckets from church and see who can grow the heaviest weight of potatoes by September. 

​

Comforting Hands

Burley Bereavement Group

Multiple Dates | 2pm - 4pm

Parish Centre

​

Burley Bereavement Group meets on the second Thursday of each month at the Parish Centre and is due to start on March 14th from 2-4pm. The group is run by Jo Onions a grief counsellor from www.reset-counselling.co.uk.

 

It is an opportunity to speak, share and support each other in a safe and welcoming environment. Jo will be on hand to provide support and guidance whenever needed. 

I would also like to remind church members that the Wellbeing Hub meets every wednesday at the scout and guide hut from 10-12 and is supported by Nikki, the counselling coordinator from Grange Park Surgery and members of Listening Ear. Here you can speak and share in a confidential and welcoming space.

PAFRAS

First Thu, Of Every Month | 10:00am -11:30am

Burley Methodist Church

A collection for PAFRAS takes place on the first Thursday of every month. For you to donate food and other items. The next dates are February 1st,  March 7th and April 4th. There will be a collection at the front of church, but inside if the weather is poor.

Dance Lesson

Seated Zumba

Every Wednesday | 11:15am - 12:15pm

Queens Hall, Burley in Wharfedale

​

Join our new seated Zumba class. Great for people experiencing challenges with mobility or balance as the whole class takes place in a chair. No dance experience is needed and there are no wrong moves. Wear comfy clothes you can easily move in and bring some water. Call 01535 677177 to book your place.
